Evolution and Ecology

The Department of Evolution and Ecology brings together faculty who study the processes that shape life on Earth, from the evolution of genes and genomes to the ecology of populations, species, communities and ecosystems. Research spans biodiversity, conservation, environmental change, behavior and evolutionary biology, integrating laboratory, field and computational approaches to address fundamental questions about the natural world. The department administers the undergraduate major in Evolution, Ecology and Biodiversity, contributes to graduate education across the College of Biological Sciences, and provides students with extensive opportunities for hands-on research in diverse organisms and environments.
